Scope of Work:

These works involved highway reconstruction and drainage improvements to a high-speed dual carriageway in Telford. Our works involved the excavation of the existing highway to the formation layer and structural and drainage improvements.

In order to be able to retain the existing levels we worked with the client to value engineer a solution that involved the installation of Tensargeotextile membrane enabling the removal of the capping layer below the sub-base. This enabled us to save on additional excavation works whilst at the same time retaining the existing levels. A new formation was formed and compacted on top of the geotextile consisting of a new sub-base layer before installation of the final surfacing.

The scheme also involved of the installation of new splay kerbing and improvements to the highway drainage consisting of the removal and replacement of a filter drain to the rear of the kerbs.
