Scope of Work:
This project was delivered as part of the Central Government’s initiative to target improved air quality in Cities with high nitrogen oxide concentrations. As part of this initiative the Roadside NO2 project involved the delivery of a package of measures to manage vehicle flows on some of Derby City’s busiest roads with the overall aim of improving air quality. As part of these improvements the NO2 project involved highway capacity changes on Stafford Street and at the A52 Ashbourne Road/Uttoxeter Old Road junction along with improved cycling facilities and the creation of pedestrian crossing points and footway improvements on Friar Gate.
Working in partnership with Eurovia Contracting our works involved:
- The installation of pedestrian crossing points and refuge islands consisting of kerbing, footway construction, surfacing works and tactile paving
- Hard landscaping consisting of conservation paving to frontages and new footway areas
- Installation of ducting and NAL sockets for new traffic signals and pedestrian crossings
- Installation of pedestrian fencing and street furniture
