Scope of Work:
This scheme was delivered as part of Telford and WrekinCouncil’s “Pride in Our Community” Structures Capital Programme.
Located on the B5062 between High Ercall and Shrewsbury, the scheme involved the reconstruction of the carriageway on the approach to Ercall Mill Bridge and the reinstatement of bank erosion on the River Roden. The works were undertaken to address the collapse of the original retaining structures caused by floods necessitating the full reconstruction of two retaining walls, the installation of new safety barriers on both sides of the carriageway and newsurfacing.Conducted under a full road closure our works consisted of:
- Excavation of the carriageway
- Installation of gabions
- Concrete plinths for new road barrier
- Drainage improvements
- Full reconstruction of carriageway involving the installation of capping layer and Type 1 sub-base followed by base course before the installation of final finishing surface course by others
